The printed book has End Notes with brief description of each, so I won't repeat that here; but in relation to our cultural moment of reckoning with police violence, I'll mention that #NoLivesMatter is about police brutality (which is almost always racialized) as well as our cultural obsession with guns (amendment #2). I support BlackLivesMatter and my title is a play on the ridiculous counter-memes like AllLivesMatter or BlueLivesMatter.

Background / history:

* Metanatural was conceived in 2014 as a collaborative project (where I would write & others draw); however, though I was lucky enough to get 4 wonderful guest illustrations, I ended up having to create most of the imagery myself, which caused the project to take a lot longer to complete (as I'm intimidated by drawing and slow to complete them).

* There are 18 original, full-color images in total (including covers, but not including PPG "contributor" icons): 10 drawings, 3 photos and 1 collage by me and 4 by guest illustrators. My drawings and collage were created over the course of 2015-2017, with photos of (my) 2 sculptures and 1 photo of me (spider-like & upside-down on aerial silks) predating that time period. As usual, I did all writing, layout & design myself (and also did some linework and color updates for a few of the guest illustrations).

* Printing in full-color on my aging laser-printer was painful; early attempts had many color issues. From starting around Q3 of 2016, I was finally able to print my first batch with the quality & color I wanted in Feb, 2017 (after much trouble-shooting, including OS and printer driver upgrades). However, it was only a few weeks later as I continued printing my first batch that I noticed the color degrading and uneven inking, which seemed to be a hardware issue. Utterly frustrated, I decided to print the next batch (expensively, around 4$ per copy) at a local copy shop, then (as usual), cut, stapled & folded at home.
